The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of

We already knew that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to Rocket League, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. However, whether players will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Simpsons car the community is itching to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the famously flawed car the patriarch designed personally in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the enormous truck featured in the tenth season. Instead, players are getting the family's standard well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it remains an recognizable symbol of the show. For those who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car uses the identical collision model as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole cosmetic from the series coming to the game. The event will also include a series of challenges to unlock more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a official announcement, the missions will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also receive wheels featuring a television showing The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which includes a brand-new playable area of Springfield, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on November 1st and concludes on November 17th.
