Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun turning to tailored sessions created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how grueling these assignments have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four classes of assignments, but where most only reward outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of getting a dozen out of forty-one main guns present in the game.

Several of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and only works at very short distances, which isn't typically where you want to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Task

Another Reddit user pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons

This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and maybe an additional option in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.

The Workaround

Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

Yet, if tackling the tasks in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

For now, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
